Love Wood’s favourite timber is oak – the timber of kings. Oak is one of the strongest types of wood, whether it’s English, European or even American Oak. Its grain is full of character and has historically always been associated with quality furniture. It’s a very versatile timber and is happily used in contemporary and traditional kitchens alike from doors through to solid oak worktops.
At Love Wood we are often asked about the quality of our work, and how it compares to other companies, and how we create your kitchen from oak is a great way to explain the process, and also show how it differs from many of our competitors.
When you buy a kitchen from a high street retailer, it will often comprise pre-made carcasses, to which are then added pre-made doors, and finally your choice of worktop. This is standard industry practice, but in reality it is exactly the same product as everyone else who chooses that particular style of kitchen will have, and will have been produced en masse to a price point.
At Love Wood we start with an oak tree, and you can see the planks of raw oak (along with the bark!) in our workshop waiting for our craftsmen to turn them into cupboards, doors and worktops for your kitchen. Each piece is carefully selected, and will be handled around 40 times before it becomes a stunning part of your final kitchen. At every stage it will be personally inspected, measured, cut, sanded, edged, drilled, routed and painted, according to the design, before being assembled into the desired part of your kitchen.
So if you are looking for the finest quality, handmade oak kitchen for your home, you have come to the right place.
